Class Description: Far too many students approach writing the same way the first rider approached a horse—jump on, and hope you go in the right direction and know when to stop! Wouldn’t it be easier to approach writing as a skill that can be learned piece by piece? This course does exactly that, guiding the student through various exercises with a strong focus on academic writing (though the skills can be applied to anything from fiction to poetry). Both the naturally talented student and the most abject word-clunker can expect to learn something to improve their gifts.
Note: This course is limited to students in grades 9-12. It is a writing course, not an "English" course. Students are expected to have a basic understanding of the mechanics of English grammar going in (7th & 8th graders should consider English 1 or 2 for writing instruction and grammar basics).
Credits: 1 (high-school elective, NOT an honors class)
Mtg. Days: TWO days a week (instead of four)

*Registration & Payment Plans: Upon registration, Logos Online will create a monthly payment plan for the balance of tuition, paid in monthly installments with the first payment due June 1 and the final payment in May. Families who register after June 1 will be invoiced immediately for the months that have transpired at the time of registration. For example, if a student registers on August 25, the family will pay the 20% deposit as well as the monthly payments for June, July, and August. They will then continue forward with the monthly payment plan for the balance of tuition.
