1-Week Intensive Prep for Latin I
SUMMER CLASS 2022
Dates: August 29 through September 2
Mtg. Days: M, T, W, Th (four days)
Mtg. Time (Pacific Time): 8:00 - 10:00 AM
Instructor: Knox Merkle
Class Description: This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of Latin grammar. Latin differs from English in much more than vocabulary, and the amount of new concepts to learn, which English speakers may never have thought of, can be overwhelming for the beginning student. Students in this course will learn what to expect in their beginning Latin classes, and will give them a chance to wrap their head around some of the concepts before learning the language for real. Students will be introduced to grammatical gender; the Latin case system; first, second, and third person verbs; tense endings; adjectives matching nouns; and flexible word order. This will be a very low-homework course, designed as an easy on-ramp to Latin I.
Prerequisite: Students must be enrolled to take Latin I in the fall.
Required Materials: Kraken Latin I
