Class Description: Are creationism, intelligent design, and Darwinian evolution possible alternatives for the Christian? What is a Christian approach to the history of science, and to science as a discipline? Using a variety of texts, we'll explore a framework for understanding science not as a mere study of great happenstance, but as a narrative superintended by God to bless humans, given certain frameworks for discovery. We'll explore weaknesses in Darwinian theory, and some contemporary attempts to begin solving this issue. Nancy Pearcy's The Soul of Science, Thomas Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, Alvin Plantinga's Where the Conflict Really Lies, Darwin's On The Origin Of Species, and Icons of Evolution by Jonathan Wells will be our texts.
