The LOS Classical Language Department is pleased to announce the winners of our first annual Latin Composition Contest. Students were required to write a 100-word story in Latin employing grammatical forms they had learned. The competition was grouped by level of Latin, with Latin 1 students competing against other Latin 1 students, Latin 2 students against other Latin 2 students, Latin 3 students against other Latin 3 students, and Latin 4 students against other Latin 4 students. Creating a composition in Latin is a difficult assignment. There were 293 Latin students in our program this year, so it was great to see them compose a story in Latin. This was no small feat.
Special thank you to the Latin teachers who made this first year a success: Mr. Knox Merkle, Mrs. Heather Trauger, and Mrs. Mary-Margaret Larson.
Here are the winners for each level of Latin. We look forward to students participating in this contest again in 2026.
Congratulations, winners!
