Course Description: This course provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of classical physics, with a strong emphasis on vector analysis and the motion of objects in one and two dimensions. Other concepts include linear and rotational momentum, as well as basic electrostatic, circuit, and magnetic concepts. Labs and projects are at each teacher's discretion. Current physics theories, general relativity and quantum mechanics, are not in the textbook but may be explored for enrichment at the teacher’s discretion. - Skills: Students should be comfortable with multi-step questions and the concepts from Algebra I and Geometry, including the trigonometric functions sine, cosine, and tangent.
Credits: 1 (Science); Honors
Prerequisite: Algebra I & Geometry OR Algebra I & Algebra II
Mtg. Days: Mon., Tues., Wed., & Thur. (4 days each week)
Required Materials:
- Apologia's Exploring Creation with Physics, 2nd Edition
- Apologia's Exploring Creation with Physics Solution Manual, 2nd Edition* (not required by some teachers)
- Each teacher will notify their classes about the labs, necessary materials, and equipment by July 1.
