Koiné Greek, Year 1

Koiné Greek 1 introduces learners to the basics of Greek in an engaging, interactive way. Starting from ground zero, Greek will be used for roughly 90% of all communication, with complexity increasing as the course progresses. Each lesson includes a video-based lesson that provides comprehensible input, intuitively introducing new vocabulary and grammar in the target language, as well as corresponding listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar exercises that further internalize the language. Learners will describe pictures, interact with props, express ideas, read and discuss texts, and ask one another questions about daily life, all with a focus on immediate comprehension in Greek rather than via translation. This forces learners to think in the language right from the start, building the necessary foundation for fluent reading.
