Class Description: This course will be a brief overview of some of the major causes, major moments, and major figures of the American War for Independence. We will begin with the growth of the break between England and the colonies, then cover the up-and-down moments of the early Boston and New York campaigns. Finally, the student will learn the glories and despair of places like Trenton, Saratoga, Valley Forge, Monmouth, Camden, Cowpens, and conclude, of course, with Yorktown. Famous (and infamous) characters such as Washington, Howe, Franklin, Adams, Lafayette, Cornwallis, and others will put in guest appearances!
