Class Description:  In this course, students will learn how to write various poetic forms: sonnet, epic, free verse, and others. Students will learn poetry techniques by reading and discussing various great poets: Homer, Virgil, Dante, Beowulf, Spenser, Shakespeare, Milton, Tennyson, and others. Students will hone their skills with weekly written poetry assignments. They will also complete two larger poetry projects each semester. 

 

Credits: 1 (elective) Non-honors

Pre-requisites: This course is for high school students only.

Mtg. Days:  2 days a week

Required Texts:  Selections from authors will be provided for students throughout the year
