Class Description:  This is a summer intensive course condensing the normal school year physics course into 8 weeks. This course provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of classical physics, heavily emphasizing vector analysis and motion of objects in one and two dimensions. Other concepts include linear
and rotational momentum, and simple electrostatic, circuit, and magnetism concepts. Current physics theories of general relativity and quantum mechanics are not in the textbook but will be briefly explored for enrichment. There will be a handful of projects/labs on free fall, momentum, pendulum motion, angular momentum, and electromagnetism.

  • Skills Needed:  It is strongly suggested that students have completed Algebra I and have had an introduction to trigonometric functions sine, cosine, and tangent. Students should come prepared to work through multi-step algebraic calculations.

    Required Texts:

    • Apologia's Exploring Creation with Physics, 2nd Edition (textbook only).
    • No solutions or test manual required
