Class Description: Students will benefit from Saxon’s incremental approach to assignments and testing, while the course content itself is similar to any traditional Euclidean geometry course. Inductive and deductive reasoning and two-column proofs are introduced and reinforced throughout the course. Students will learn and apply the properties of circles, triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons. They will also find the area of these figures and the volume of geometric solids. Students will understand transformations, reflections, rotation, and dilations of figures on the coordinate plane and apply the Pythagorean Theorem to numerous problem-solving situations. Finally, students will learn and apply trigonometric ratios, the Law of Sines and Cosines, and trigonometric identities. This is a challenging course that encourages higher-level thinking skills.
Credits: 1 (Math)
Prerequisite: Due to the fast-paced structure of this course, students must have completed Algebra 1 with 90% or better.
